  1. Great review! The Honolulu Pickleball Company obviously makes some great paddles right now for substantially less than the big names. I just wish they didn’t feel the need to inject their faith on all the paddles they sell (e.g., their paddles have “John 3:16” etched into the paddle face at the top near the edge guard). Like, really? It’s not enough just to evangelize yourself but you also have to make sure everyone else does it for you? As result, they now have a bunch of players using their paddles while also terribly representing the company leadership’s chosen religion. The optics of this is terrible and, for me, not a loving or effective way to promote something as personal as religious faith. As an aside, I’m also surprised I haven’t seen any paddle reviews talk about this or point it out since *general* paddle aesthetics is often something considered by players…though whether it *should* be considered is a separate question. 🙂 Does anyone have an easy fix for getting rid of the “John 3:16” message on the paddle face?

  2. Foam paddles are not control paddles. I think we need to just label them “controllable power” and “max power.”

  3. I bought the now much cheaper Project 008 in the 16mm Tour configuration, and after just a day of playing, I think it’s my new main, coming from a J3NF. Added 6 grams to each side to help with twist weight.

It’s basically the complete opposite of my J3NF in every respect, so my first game was very jaring, but fell in love by game 3.

Love the lack of pop and increased dwell, felt more in control then ever before, dramatically improving my dinks and resets, and even my drives and drops were easier to aim. Honestly, power is overrated and was messing up my game.
